Samsung announced the Galaxy SmartTag3 on Sept. 30, 2026. It is about 35% smaller by volume and 33% lighter than the previous generation, with an aluminum-decorated button. A Silicone Case with a keyring and a Loop Case are offered as accessories.

For the first time in the line, the tag works with iOS devices as well as Galaxy phones. Not every feature crosses over, though: Samsung says Compass View, Ring Phone and Left Behind Alert are not available on iOS.

Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding lets Compass View give distance and direction from up to 60 meters away, about three times farther than before, with ultra-wideband taking over at close range. Samsung notes that Channel Sounding currently works only with the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8, S26 Ultra and S26 Plus.

Samsung rates the battery at up to 550 days in standard use and up to 790 days in Power Saving Mode, based on its own lab tests. A new Place Notification feature (currently a trial feature) alerts you when a tagged item enters or leaves an area you set.

The tag goes on sale in Korea first, from Oct. 7, followed by the U.S. Samsung has not published a U.S. date or price yet; we will update this story when it does.
