Best for solo travelers who want one premium wallet for travel. Available with or without RFID — verify the RFID version when ordering.

Pros

Pros

  • Holds 4-6 passports
  • Large compartments for boarding passes

Cons

  • Larger than solo wallets
  • Less practical for solo travel

Which one is right for you?

RFID blocking — does it matter?

Modern passports (post-2007) have RFID chips. The chips emit data when scanned within ~3 inches. RFID skimming concerns are largely overblown — actual incidents are rare, and chips can only be read at very close range.

All five wallets in this test block RFID effectively when closed. The Bellroy is the only one with selective RFID (some slots block, some don't — by design, so you can use contactless cards while passport stays protected).

If you're not worried about RFID skimming, the blocking is essentially a non-feature. The wallets are useful for organization regardless.

Capacity comparison

Zoppen RFID: 2 passports, 14 cards, multiple slots, large bill compartment. Most capacity at this price.

Bellroy Travel Wallet: 1 passport, cards, cash, pen — designed for solo travelers.

Travelambo RFID: 2 passports, 4 cards — basic capacity.

Fossil Men's RFID: 1 passport, 4 cards, premium leather.

WALNEW Family: 4-6 passports — best for families.

Best for each use

Most popular: Zoppen RFID Blocking Passport Wallet ($13-20). Multiple slots, holds 2 passports + 14 cards.

Best premium: Bellroy Travel Wallet ($120-145). Environmentally certified leather, slim profile, includes pen.

Best budget: Travelambo RFID Passport Holder ($10-15). Cheapest option, basic capacity.

Best premium under $50: Fossil Men's RFID Passport Case ($40-55). Full-grain leather.

Best for families: WALNEW RFID Family Passport Holder ($20-30). Holds 4-6 passports.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need an RFID wallet?
Probably not — RFID skimming of passports is theoretically possible but rare in practice. The wallets are useful for organization; RFID blocking is a secondary feature.
Can I keep my boarding pass with my passport?
Yes — most passport wallets have slots specifically for boarding passes (Zoppen, Bellroy). Keeps everything in one place at airports.
Should I use a passport wallet during border crossings?
Take the passport out for immigration scanning — don't try to scan it through the wallet. Keep cards/cash inside while transit.
Leather vs. PU vs. nylon?
Leather (Bellroy, Fossil) ages best and looks most premium. PU (Zoppen, Travelambo) is budget-friendly and doesn't show wear. Nylon (WALNEW) is most durable for rough travel but reads casual.
